Communion

The final item of the proper of the Mass which takes its text either from the Psalms or the Gospels. the simplest of the antiphonal chants from the mass. Like the offertory, the communion has shed its psalm verse and consists of an antiphon alone. (As usual, the antiphon is sung by the choir).
