French school

DEFINITION

Music by composers of late 19th and early 20th century France ( Claude Debussy, Gabriel-Urbain Faur' , Maurice Ravel). This style refers to the unique sound employed, often called impressionism, employed by these composers. See also the Franco Flemish School in the Renaissance.
