Sarabande

A Baroque dance that is said to have come from the Saracens. It is in triple meter, and characteristically the second note of the measure is lengthened, giving the dance a stately, majestic flavor. The sarabande is a standard movement of the Baroque Dance Suite.A slow, genteel dance in triple time, thought to have its origins in the orient. It came to Europe via Spain during the 16th-century, and became popular in 18th-century England. It often appears as a slow movement in a classical suite.
