Sonata da camera

DEFINITION

A Baroque style of sonata, called a "chamber sonata" ( sonata da camera) to distinguish it from the "Church sonata" ( sonata da chiesa). The sonata da camera usually consisted of a suite of stylized dances, performed either by a small ensemble or by a soloist.
